Cerebral Venous Thrombosis (CVT) Thrombolysis & Thrombectomy
Cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) is a rare type of stroke in which the venous channels in the brain are blocked. In some cases, thrombolysis may benefit patients with CVT. CVT thrombolysis is a minimally invasive procedure in which a catheter is placed at the area of the clot and medication is delivered to help break up the clot. In rare cases, specialized devices may be used to extract the clot from the area in a procedure called a thrombectomy.
