Dr. Thomas Shum a Welcome Addition to CRL
We are pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Thomas Shum to our Emergency/Radiology team at Consulting Radiologists, Ltd. Dr. Shum is a highly qualified radiologist specializing in Nuclear Medicine and PET Imaging, bringing valuable expertise to our practice.
Dr. Shum completed his MD and PhD through the Medical Scientist Training Program at Baylor College of Medicine. His postgraduate training includes a residency in diagnostic radiology at The Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, where he also completed a pathway for dual certification in nuclear medicine.
Dr. Shum is passionate about providing crucial diagnostic information that guides patient care, particularly through the use of FDG PET/CT studies for cancer staging and restaging. His commitment to advancing medical science is highlighted by his role as the primary inventor of C7R, a novel protein developed during his PhD studies that enhances CAR T-cell immunotherapy for cancer treatment. As of August 2024, two clinical trials utilizing C7R have shown promising results, underscoring his dedication to improving patient outcomes through innovative research.
