Recently Published Articles by CRL’s Interventional Neuroradiology Team

CRL’s Interventional Neuroradiology team has recently published 2 peer-reviewed articles in the fields of Neuroradiology and Neurointervention.

The first article, titled “Diagnostic Yield of Catheter Angiography in Patients with Subarachnoid Hemorrhage and Negative Initial Noninvasive Neurovascular Examinations,” which was published in the American Journal of Neuroradiology, highlights the importance of performing follow-up catheter angiograms in patients who present with subarachnoid hemorrhage without a cause found in the initial CT or MR angiogram, since the catheter angiogram may reveal a small aneurysm or fistula in up to 15% of patients. The second article, titled “Pre-procedure P2Y12 reaction units value predicts perioperative thromboembolic and hemorrhagic complications in patients with cerebral aneurysms treated with the Pipeline Embolization Device,” which was published in the Journal of NeuroInterventional Surgery, examines the factors that can lead to serious complications after Pipeline procedures for treatment of cerebral aneurysms, and suggests that some of these complications could be due to the blood levels of the antiplatelet medications that are administered before and after the Pipeline device is deployed.
